Help Stop "Surprise Billing" in CA
Blood cancer patients depend on the expertise and knowledge of healthcare professionals who understand the unique needs patients face. As a result, it is imperative that blood cancer patients understand their network coverage and can trust that their insurance covers treatments at in-network healthcare facilities.
Too often, however, many patients experience “surprise billing” after receiving care in an in-network hospital setting. Often times, a patient is admitted to the hospital and receives routine lab tests as part of their treatment but later finds out that a physician they saw along the way was an out-of-network provider. Patients battling blood cancer shouldn’t also have to face a surprise bill for high out-of-network rates.
A recently introduced bill can help change that reality for blood cancer patients. AB 533 would address this situation by requiring that patients only pay an in-network cost when they receive care at an in-network facility.
