Help Patients Understand Their Insurance Coverage
A lack of transparency is one of the challenges blood cancer patients face when purchasing health insurance. Patients need to make sure they can find a physician and medical team who can accurately monitor their disease and is also accessible to their home.
Unfortunately, many provider directories for health plans are largely inaccurate. This story is not unique and patients with chronic and life-threatening diseases grapple with these challenges every day.
Fortunately, a recently introduced bill can help change this. SB 137 would remedy this issue by requiring all state-regulated health plans in California to utilize a standardized provider directory that would be posted as a searchable link on the plan’s website.
Help us ensure that patients fighting cancer don’t also have to fight to understand their healthcare directories. Please email your Assemblymember TODAY to ask for their support!
